Covenant House - Volunteer Opportunities

Covenant House provides comprehensive services to homeless and runaway youth under the age of 21. Through Covenant House Faith Community, individuals have the opportunity to serve as full time volunteers in direct care at a Covenant House Crisis Center; live in a diverse volunteer community house with a focus on simple, healthy, and respectful living; and share in daily communal prayer/reflection.

Volunteers can serve for 3, 6, or 12 months. Faith Community houses are located in New York, NY; Atlantic City, NJ; and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Benefits include room and board, weekly stipend, health insurance, vacation time and vacation stipend, severance stipend at end of service commitment, community retreats, deferral of most student loans, and opportunity to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award.

For more information, contact Paula Rote by email at faithmail@covenanthouse.org or by phone at 212-727-4081.

As a current volunteer I just want to encourage anyone reading this post who thinks they could see themselves volunteering for CH to contact Paula and get more information. It is an incredibly valuable (though sometimes stressful and difficult) experience that I've found to be a very worthwhile investment of the past 11 months of my life =)
